Veteran Service Organizations

Service Officers - My first service officer was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, a Veteran Service Organization (VSO). Most VSO chapters have at least one person that understands the VA claims process. The best way to find a VA approved VSO near you is to contact your state’s Bureau of Veteran Affairs, click on this link:

I now have a service officer that bends over backwards to help me file my claims. Through my experience, which is limited, the best service officer that I found is my county VA representative. County VA reps are found within your state/county government offices.

Based on my personal experience and what I have been told from other veterans who have successfully received VA compensation benefits, the best Service Officers come from your county VA rep and the Disabled American Veteran (DAV). Other VSOs, such as the following;

  • Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA)
  • American Legion
  • Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW)
  • Military Order of the Purple Heart
  • American Veterans (AmVets)

    are also caring and work hard to help with filing compensation claims.
